HIGURASHI & UMINEKO SPOILERS - Dear publishers
You know when acknowledging that something is a spoiler is itself a spoiler?

The banner and icon for this game are $CHARACTER. Yes, players of Chapter 7 will already be aware of $CHARACTER's significance, but the banner for this game is used to advertise it on the page for Chapter 1.

It would be essentially impossible to buy the full series without realising that $CHARACTER is more important than they appear to be in Chapter 1.

To a lesser degree, this also applies to Chapter 7's artwork implying that a character with supernatural features will appear. That spoiled me when I read the series before Chapter 8's release. Umineko's answer arcs also reveal the existence of a character that doesn't appear before them.

If a character must be used, couldn't a different on be chosen?

However I guess this was sold at Comiket mostly to readers who'd already finished the previous chapter.

Who, Rena? I don't see the one you seem to be talking about anywhere on that page. Or the other one you mentioned. Are we seeing the same thing?

But yeah, I agree with this complaint. You'd think they could have come up with a less spoilery solution.

It's hard to navigate because I don't speak Japanese. Which is probably why I read English translations without being aware, or wanting to be aware, of characters Japanese readers are aware of.

That's actually a good point. I knew Higurashi story already long before reading it here so I never realized how much of a spoiler they actually are. Pretty sad tbh for the new readers of the story.

That's the light novel cover and that's also not exactly her.

The original Japanese cover only has Rena on it.

I don't think it's a big deal. "the murder victim will be important and have their story explored" is all the banner really tells you, which is a no-brainer. It doesn't give away her specific role in the plot, and as early as Chapter 3 the game straight up tells you "she did a murder".
