This has probably been answered somewhere in the past but searches here and on google aren't helping. I haven't played VC in many years but know I didn't have to hit the target key to fire every weapon accurately. That was back when I installed VC from the CD. No there is nothing in my games menu for "classic controls" etc. It had the same type of movenment/aiming as gta3. The crosshair stayed focused on whatever I was looking at even while moving left or right. I strafed left and right in GTA3.

I have to bring up the crosshair for everything. Pistol, Ingram, etc. Is there a workaround for this? I'm burned out from googling. Everything is DE and PS2 stuff. If my only option is to install VC from the CD I may look for a way to do that.

*edit - I used SilentPatch to play GTA3 this past couple weeks and it worked great. I have VC installed with The Improved Classic mod. Runs and looks beautiful but the aiming issue kills it.
