Though im really enjoying the game, it doesnt hit me like Hades 1 did. Hades 1 is one of the top 3 games in the last decade.

Definitely up there for me. I don't really think about things in terms of top 10s but it's a beautifully crafted game, both from an art-consumption perspective and when looking deeper at the nuts and bolts of it all.

One of the best games of all time? That's an insanely tough sell. I don't think so. Least not in my opinion.

Top 10? Nah, too high a bar.

Top 50? Maybe. Top 100? Yeah, probably. But if I were writing the list, I'd put Hades 1, since it was more groundbreaking. Hades 2 is arguably better at least in many aspects but it doesn't have the groundbreaking part. Sort of the same issue as Doom/Doom 2.

Supergiant games can be pretty great, but none of them are ambitious or deep enough for me to place in top 10.

Definitely in the highest tier of 2025, which seems to be a great year for Indie games.

In terms of gameplay absolutely I'd say. But then there's games like Planescape, that are a deep exploration of human psyche, or FNV that manage to hide some of the most mature and thought provoking writing ever behind some silly weirdness. Let me put it this way - in 10 years no one will still be talking about how Hades 2 made player feel. Because ultimately that's what art is about. It's the imprint it leaves on your persona. I think mechanically as a piece of cerebral entertainment both Hades games are top notch. But they're a little lightweight everywhere else. Especially with that horrifically written ending in H2, it takes it down a notch.

I added Hades 2 to my list of favorite games last night, and I put it at spot #10.

While it's a killer game combat and build-wise, the vibes are off. The first game is much better as an all-around narrative experience. You know the phrase, "More than the sum of its parts?" Somehow, Hades 2 is less than the sum of its parts.
