Auto save not saving
I don't know how auto save works, but I wanted to post it here in case it was a bug. Everytime I'm playing for a few hours and I get a fatal error crash, It's like none of the "auto saves" show up. I have to always load the game again from my last saved point that I manually saved.

Check the ingame settings: settings - Gameplay - Time to autosave.
To how much is it set to?

And are you playing on the Valley map or on the Oxbow?

Check your settings. Is autosave turned off in your game?

15 minutes and playing on oxbow. Autosave is absolutely turned on. To also add, I see the pop up that auto save does in the top left, like it's showing me its auto saving, but there's no file if the game crashes.

That's strange; it works for me in Oxbow.

Is it possible that you have maybe too many savegames already and there's no room for the autosave? Try cleaning some up (you can take a backup if needed, they are in %LocalAppData%\Medieval_Dynasty\Saved\SaveGames) and see if autosave works then?

Got rid of what was there, there wasn't much to be honest, about 6 files or so but that seemed to do it! I can see the autosaves again. Thank you!

Well, that worked for all of twice. It made and auto-save 1 and an autosave 2 file and then when it went to make a 3rd auto save, no new save. It didn't overwrite any of the previous 2 and it didn't create a 3rd one.

How many savegames do you have right now? You might just be at the limit with the two auto saves. Try deleting 2 more just to be sure to see if it works then.

I just have the 1 saved game. Here is a link to show you https://imgur.com/a/GShuvUh I got rid of the auto saves and it STILL is capping at 2 with zero overrides. So essentially, if I go passed 30 minutes of play, I will have to consistently manually save every once in a while because auto save stops doing anything. Is that how the game is supposed to be?

Edit: to show you what I mean, here is another screenshot, with a quicksave at the top so you can see the timestamps. https://imgur.com/a/I2c4sCO

Edit 2: I made a game on the regular map (didn't touch any of my saves from the Oxbow map) and I'm currently up to 4 autosaves. And also the 4th one overwrote the first. So I definitely think something is wrong with Oxbow. Here's a screenshot showing you. The "Autosave" was created at 12:57 which was the 4th one that overwrote the same name as the previous "autosave1" and"autosave2" were created earlier. https://imgur.com/a/fQpSMGr

So Oxbow map by itself is the issue. It's not overwriting any of the 2 autosaves it creates and after 2, I don't get another autosave. I have to manually save, or I lose hours of progress.

So I tried it out, also on Oxbow map, and it works fine for me.

First I deleted all the autosaves, i set the frequency for autosaves to 5 minutes, and then started playing.

First autosave is named "autosave", second = "autosave1" and third = "autosave2". They get overwritten fine as well and keep rotating.

Keep in mind that autosave doesn't go off while the game is paused (cause you are for example in the management menu), so you will not always have clear 15 minutes between your autosaves because of that.

Could it be that in your case the Steam cloud is messing up your autosaves and just putting the ones in cloud back? Try turning auto cloud off for Medieval Dynasty to see if that maybe fixes it for you?

And as for the crashes; the ame really shouldn't crash that often that you constantly lose progress due to your autosave issue. Have you tried switching to DX11 ingame to see if that helps? settings - graphics - rendering mode - DX11 (Don't forget to accept changes at the bottom)

As you can see in my screenshots, for Oxbow, I don't get "autosave" then "autosave1" then "autosave2" like I do on the normal map. Autosave is skipped and it just goes to "Autosave1" and then sticks without any overrides. I also didn't pause the game at any point and just left it running, so the 40 minute time gap is literally just letting the game sit and run. I've also checked for file integrity too which it didn't come back with anything.

I'll try the cloud idea and see what happens.

Edit: The cloud didn't work. I turned it off and I'm still only getting "Autosave1" and "autosave2" without any overrides. I also deleted the previous files before I tested it. I also created a new oxbow game and its still doing the same thing.

I uninstalled, re-installed and it fixed it. Seems like something was definitely up.
