中世纪王朝

Last year they are developing bells and whistles instead of core functionality
It's sad that the game has become all about "settings, village building, decorations"—"bells and whistles" for Zoomers with RGB glowing computers.
From the very beginning, the game's appeal was the spirit of survival, exploring the world, hunting, crafting your own weapons, economics, and character development. The village was merely an auxiliary tool that helps the hero live longer by freeing him from the drudgery of many tasks—food, clothing—while the hero can explore the world and perform heroic deeds.

The developers have abandoned the part about heroic deeds. The developers are making "bells and whistles." It's sad.

I could be wrong, but judging by the updates that have been coming out for the game in the last year, it looks like Render Cube has changed something in the leadership, in the management. It really feels like the game has gone from a hardcore survival game to a category of flowers and colorful houses - it makes me sick. Maybe that's what people buy you for, but not me. I've been following the game for three years now. Lately, I've been disappointed.

This game was never a hard core survival game, and also never aimed to be one. It's a city builder at its core, with the twist that you also have a character in the world so it can combine survival and RPG elements.

Not sure where you got the idea that it was supposed to be all about a hero doing heroic deeds? You play a peasant, wanting a quiet life in a peaceful valley, in a rural setting, managing a farmer's village.

As for the last updates; after 5 years, don't expect major overhauls anymore. There will still be updates, but the devs have also started to develop their new game.

Or the game has already been developed and they are just adding some extra stuff. This new mentality of gamers who think devs need to constantly develop their games forever is crazy. Maybe instead of whining you should be thanking them for adding extra content.

i don't think OP meant to post this here because none of what OP claimed was "supposed to be part of the game" was ever even mentioned by the developers as being planned.

not only that but "the village was merely an auxiliary tool"??? - do you even know what game you're playing? - the entire advertised appeal of this game was village sim.

why doesn't my kia come with a life preserver ah post.

The game could also add community Bath Houses and Brothels which were a big thing back then. They could rework the whole attraction system to include prostitutes. It misses a Village Church where villagers can go to meet a religious need. I want a Siege Workshop so I can craft Battering Rams and Trebuchets.. Oh and Ladders for climbing walls.

There is loads of cool things they could do with the game but just be happy with what we have. I enjoy the peaceful aspect. You can chill out for hours with what we have right now.

Mornin everybody :oxinablanket:
I believe there is a suggestion thread for such things ? If more people suggest and wish i am sure they will take that into account.
If they wanted to stop developing they would have by now.
I also like to agree that i support full heartly i have always felt this game got something that makes it worth while playing

oh well.. time for coffee and wake up
I spent 6 hours last night trying to find those gift baskets.. i couldn't find 3 of 'em so im hoping to be able to pin them down today
I wish you all a nice weekend :oxinablanket:

I bought this game in Jan, 2024 - I was just scrolling though its activity feed in my library trying to find that "played for the first time" post, I couldn't find it, but presumably it was soon after I bought the game. But while I was scrolling down... wow there are a LOT of updates. So many updates. From my perspective, just in the time since I got the game there have been some pretty major updates and content additions. I honestly don't understand what people are complaining about when they say there is not 'content' being added.
It's a finished game; I bought it as a finished game, I would have been happy if nothing other than necessary patches for bugs etc had been done. Really agree with WoW about the weird attitude people seem to have now about expecting games to be actively developed infinitely. I usually assume the people who go on steam forums to say things like "is this game dead" are kids who've grown up with 'live service' bs and whatnot. But this OP calls out 'zoomers' so who knows...

How about you actually own the game before of blaming "those darn young peoples!!!11!" for your own mistake of not bothering to read what the game is actually about lol

This game is what it is, like it or hate it, but the profile of this game was always very clear over the years and so was the pace as it was done.

This is not Valheim in poland edition, where fighting, constructing self made buildings and area progression was the main element.
MD is more like all this medieval builder games, more management and growth of your village and population with less core challenging survival aspects but more quests.

That being said I prefer MD over Valheim where the game just want to kill you and let you suffer, MD instead is more friendly and relaxing, more like a family game, I would compare it ´s gameplay with the guild.

Does this mean we can expect workshop mod support to show up soonish if development focus is moving to another project? I think that'd be a great bookend update for the game once the polishing is finished.

I have no idea. The devs have always said they'd consider it once they are done developing MD completely, but it seems they are still giving updates for MD, even while working on the other game already.

It's crazy. I've seen it for $5 games even.
