This game runs horribly....so disappointing.
Ive got a 3080TI which I know is an aging card but still.

Even when i drop res to 1080 (1080 ffs nivida app recommends 4k!) this thing lags down to 20fps. Ive turned off weather effects, dropped super sampling also to 1080, dropped anti alaising and lowered shadow quality to low it makes no difference.

It runs like ass. The size of my village is only around 130..... wth, i cant image 1000.

I played during EA and dont remember this being an issue.

I really enjoy the game but its pretty much unplayable.

Anyone found a workaround other than buying a 5090 system for a top down rts city builder?!?!?

So fps is GPU?

Haha funny, you need CPU power to get fps. Meaning you got a weak CPU.

If you did not had this during EA then 2 things are possible, 1, you never played EA and you are lying. 2 Something happend to your CPU wich causes it to not be as powerfull anymore.

games performance is way wy way better then it was in EA. but you need CPU power for all the calculations. and only 130 people in the village suggest something is realy wrong with your setup. (nothing to do with GPU).
And it's not an RTS game, it's a city builder with optional combat.

human... are you from Earth ? it was a problem since... ALWAYS
there are dozens of threads about FF performance and each time it has been said - FF is a CPU bound game.
that's all. close another one topic about performance.

It is your setup.

on my oldest pc setup, with max GPU settings, I can get 50 - 65 FPS till I get in the 950 - 1250 pop range, then it drops down to about 25 - 30 FPS

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3470 CPU @ 3.20GHz OC to 3.67 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB
Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce OC GTX 1050 Ti (4 GB)

on my gaming pc, and even my enterprise business pc, have constant 85 - 120 FPS with 1,800 - 2,400 pop with no problems.

Games in this genre are often CPU bound. I have i5-14600K and RTX 5070. 64 GB DDR-4 RAM, game installed on SSD and Windows 11. Game is running without any trouble without upscaling on native 2560x1440 resolution. So upgrade your CPU and GPU.

Still hoping for a Grim Dawn 2.

No problems here. Must be your computer.
Still hoping for a Grim Dawn 2.

Years away yet though pre-production for it will start some time next year.

Only issue i have is crashes late game when ive basically filled half the map with buildings. My pop is 2600 right now and it just crashes randomly. I have 64 gbs of memory and a Ryzen 9 5950 it stutters a little every once in awhile but seems smooth. Theres no way you should be getting any fps drop below 1000 pop, its a you issue if so.

What kind of CPU do you have? Your GPU is not the problem, the game is mostly CPU bound, except in the very early game or if you play at 4K resolution with a weaker GPU. Any CPU at the level of a Ryzen 5600 will manage 500 people easily with 60 FPS average. Indeed it should manage 1000+ people with very reasonable performance.

That claim is very much doubtful :). Proof, please and more infos about the settings. That CPU (i5 3470 ) is 13 years old ... . There is no way that thing can manage 900-1200 people in FF with about 60 FPS average. A sudden drop from 50-65 FPS to 25-30 is also very unrealistic. You would have a slow decline and I bet it starts much earlier :).

Sorry, but without a gameplay video that is just too unlikely to believe.

Also: No CPU in existence can run the game with 85-120 FPS with 1800-2400 ppl..., not even close... .

I've got an i5-12400, RTX3070 8GB VRAM, 32GB RAM... runs fine well into the 1k-2k population. Sounds like your system is being bogged down by other stuff, or maybe your drivers are incorrectly installed. Try reinstalling your graphics driver. Figure it out.
Simhead3 12 月 2 日 下午 2:26
Thats sounds like a problem your end, Not the game. Im on a 3050 and it runs at 70 - 100 frames depending on zoom level, all maxed 1080p settings.
