Sorry you are having issues, but I am not able to reproduce this error.
Would you and your friend be able to send the game logs? The logs are located at Documents\My Games\MiniGolf Maker\Logs and you can send them to support@roadturtlegames.com.
Based on the error it seems like there is some inconsistency in the lobby ID that is preventing you from joining each other. The logs hopefully can provide insight into this.
